Recent Advances in Fluid-Solid Interaction

Donna Fitzsimmons

A joint JMBC-EM workshop : Friday 11 November 2016

Fluid and solid mechanics have traditionally developed as separate disciplines in the engineering sciences. In the Netherlands these two disciplines are embedded in the research schools JM Burgers Centre and Engineering Mechanics, respectively. Fluid-solid interaction is however gaining prominence in increasingly many applications, transcending the traditional boundaries between the disciplines.

The workshop Recent Advances in Fluid-Solid Interaction presents 6 extended lectures by experts in the field of modeling and simulation of fluid-solid-interaction problems, providing an overview of the state-of-the-art. The target audience of the workshop comprises PhD students, staff members and industrial contacts of the JMBC and Engineering Mechanics research schools.
